Our History
At Alderney Shipping we have been shipping to Alderney since January 1969. Some of our early founders included Jon and Martine Kay-Mouat and the business has been solely run by the Kay-Mouat family since the early seventies. Jon and Martine’s support in the company was to ensure that Alderney continued to receive such a vital life line link. Alderney Shipping has always been firmly based in Alderney with Alderney as our primary customer.
Alderney Shipping has expanded over the years but our focus has remained consistent throughout this time, our key focus being our customers.
Shipping to Alderney has seen many changes over the years but the one consistency that has remained the same is Alderney Shipping itself. We endeavour to give a reliable service to the community; other operators have ‘come and gone’ all having promised to re-invent the wheel and none to date has succeeded in putting Alderney and its people at the very heart of their operation.
At the end of 2010 (for a January 2011 start) Alderney Shipping successfully won the exclusive contract to continue to operate the freight service between Alderney – Guernsey – Alderney. This achievement was especially significant to the family as sadly on 26th November 2010, one of its founders, Jon Kay-Mouat, passed away at his home in Alderney.
Alderney Shipping continues to operate today under the same family and Jon and Martine’s legacy lives on; their enormous care, dedication and altruism in supporting Alderney and its people.
Alderney Shipping now operates on a somewhat bigger scale than when we first started; management has a very ‘hands on’ style and at the very centre of our business, as always, remains our very loyal customers.
