***WE ARE RECRUITING***
We are recruiting for a FREIGHT AGENT and a JUNIOR OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR. Both roles are based in our Guernsey office.
Please note: we can only accept applicants with the correct housing license to work in Guernsey.
For further information please contact Janette@channelseaways.co.uk
*** IMPORTANT UPDATE RE CARS BEING SHIPPED CHANNEL ISLANDS TO UK FOR PERSONAL USE***
Please note that since the implementation of the port inventory system at Poole on 1-1-22, any unaccompanied vehicles that are sent from the Channel Islands to the UK for a customer to use while they are there, will be subject to a temporary import declaration. This means that we will charge the usual £35 administration fee for the declaration but more importantly, a security deposit for the VAT liability will be required from the car owner. Once the vehicle is shipped back to the islands, the deposit will be refunded. The deposit amount will be 20% of the declared value of the vehicle.
This is only for vehicles sent for temporary use. Any vehicles that have been sold or are going over for repair and return will be dealt with differently.
Please call our office on 01481 721515 fir further information.
MESSAGE FROM BRUNO KAY-MOUAT OUR MANAGING DIRECTOR
I’m writing to advise you that we are very much open for business during these trying times. We continue to maintain regular sailings to ensure that your stuff is delivered. The Alderney Shipping Group has and continues to demonstrate its 50+ year commitment to being a lifeline for islands, both in good times and bad. We are excited to be taking delivery of a newer, bigger vessel later this week to ensure that the islands continue to get what they need. This vessel will be called the MV Trinity and is a visible sign of our investment in you and the communities we serve.
In typical Channel Island fashion, we pull together and find new ways of working together to overcome common challenges. We’ve adapted our practices to ensure that our work areas are clean, have issued drivers and quay staff with supplies to keep them and you safe, and we’re still receiving and delivering goods. We’ve changed the way we work to follow government guidelines and offer physical distancing for staff and customers all while still delivering friendly, local service.
While we don’t know what will happen with people shipping goods or government restrictions, we do know that shipping has been deemed essential and our team members are critical. So whatever changes may occur in the future, you can be sure that we will be part of the backbone that keeps the lifeline going.
There’s no question that these may be unsettling times, we do care about you and are here to support you. Stay well.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our incredibly hard working and dedicated staff at this very difficult time – without who, we would not be able to serve you. Thank you and stay safe and well our teams.
LATEST UPDATE ON PASSENGER CARRIAGE ON OUR VESSELS
Due to the current situation we will not be transporting passengers on the company cargo vessels until further notice between the islands and the UK in order to safeguard the crew from potential exposure/ unnecessary risk of exposure to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
However, requests for passengers to travel to Alderney may be entertained under special circumstances such as family emergencies, but not for routine reasons. You would need to discuss this with Bruno directly who you can get hold of through our Guernsey office 01481 724810
